College Uniform

The school dress code reflects the wishes of the parents and the community. Students are encouraged to appreciate that a degree of self-respect, responsibility and deportment is shown by the way the school uniform is worn.

Girls’ Uniform

  • Navy blue A-line skirt – below knee cap

  • White collared short sleeved blouse with Tereora College emblem on the pocket

  • Bikini tops are not to be worn

  • No coloured tee-shirts are to be worn under the College blouse

  • No tee-shirts or shirts of any kind are to be worn over the College uniform

  • Girls must not let any shorts be shown below their skirts

  • Skirts must not hang below the hip line

  • Tereora College jackets (optional) – no other jacket may be worn 

Boys’ Uniform

  • Drill navy blue shorts above the knees (underwear is not to be seen protruding from the shorts)

  • White collared short sleeved shirt with Tereora College emblem on the pocket

  • No tee-shirt or shirt of any kind is to be worn over the College uniform

  • No coloured undergarment is to be worn under the College shirt

  • No tee-shirts must be seen below the College shirt sleeves

  • Bold, brightly coloured rugby-type socks are not to be worn

  • College shorts must not hang below the hip line

  • Tereora College jackets (optional) – no other jacket may be worn

Kia Orana Wear

  • Girls - Pareu dress which may or may not have sleeves. Dresses must not be strapless although there is no restriction on the width of the straps. Alternatively, girls may wear a skirt and top as long as both items are in pareu wear, although they do not have to match. NB College uniform is not acceptable and girls are not permitted to wear their College skirt with a pareu top.

  • Boys - Pareu shirt with College shorts

Makeup and Jewellery

  • No makeup is to be worn nor is coloured fingernail or toenail polish.

  • No jewellery is to be worn by boys with the exception of a wrist watch.

  • Girls may wear one small plain sleeper or stud in each ear. Religious or cultural necklaces are not permitted.

Hair

  • Girls with long or shoulder length hair must have it plaited and tied back neatly with navy blue or black ribbons. No coloured ribbons or fancy clips may be worn in hair. Dyed hair that looks unnatural is unacceptable.

  • Boys’ hair must be neatly trimmed and must not be below their shirt collar. Boys must not have “outrageous” hairstyles or use unnatural hair dye. Facial hair must be removed and sideburns kept to an acceptable length.

Mufti, Jackets and Helmets

Mufti

  • Girls and boys should wear respectable casual wear that will not cause offence.

  • Boys are not permitted to wear wraparound pareu wear.

College Jackets

  • These are the only outer garments that can be worn on the top half of the body. No other jerseys, jackets etc are allowed.

Helmets

  • ALL STUDENTS who travel to and from College on motorbikes or scooters are encouraged to wear an approved helmet. This includes pillion passengers.
